Many people cycle to work every day and employers are often keen to provide a place to store bicycles where they are safe and secure and don’t pose a hazard to passersby. When considering storage methods for bicycles in the workplace many people assume that a locked shed is the best solution from a security point of view but this is not always the case and this article explains why.
In many cases open cycle shelters are by far a better solution from which may seem strange. A locked shed – if left open – provides the ideal shelter that a thief requires to crack any combination locks or key operated locks. A cycle shelter that is open on three sides however provides no cover whatsoever and consequently makes it a much more difficult environment for thieves to work in.
The open nature of cycles shelter also makes them ideal to not only be monitored by people but also CCTV. If your work place has an external CCTV system you should be able to very easily tweak the position of the cameras to provide 24 hour surveillance of your cycle shelter. If you were using a traditional bike storage shed, with solid walls and roof you would need to install cameras inside the building and this would mean a significant extra installation cost.
Many cycle shelters are made from transparent plastic which have excellent light transmission properties. In layman’s language this means that if you have lights outside the shelter the light will shine through the plastic and light up the inside and this means that you will not have to go to the expense of having lighting in stalled in you cycle shelter. A well lit cycle shelter is very important to preventing any criminal activity.
In summary installing a cycle shelter – despite its appearance – is often a far more secure solution for sorting bicycles.

A thin corded lanyard is advisable for light items like name badges. They are usually made with elastic cords and are practically cheap. Medium sized lanyards are available. They are thicker and are used for items like whistles. They are enough for not so heavy items and they will be comfy enough to hang on the neck. But because they are not that thick they too cannot to support the weight of heavier items like a cell phone.
Wide strap lanyards are often used for heavier items. They provide more comfort for the wearer and carry the weight more easily. It is stronger and more secure. They are also used for advertisements of different companies. Their wide design serves as a place where companies can put their insignias, logos and names.
